Meeting Christ in Prayer

MEETING CHRIST IN PRAYER is an interactive 8-week guided prayer experience for small groups. Based on the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius Loyola, it introduces participants to various ways of praying and provides an opportunity to support one another through faith sharing.

What does it offer?
Weekly meetings are 90 minutes long and include group prayer, guided meditation, small group faith sharing, and an orientation for the following week’s prayer or prayer techniques. The cost of the program is a sliding scale of $30-$50 and covers all materials. Scholarships are available.

Caritas Concert: I Wish It So
Time: Wednesday, September 26 at 7:00 pm
Location: Wallace Hall

Vocalist Danya Katok is joined by pianist Michael Sheetz in an evening of musical theatre, jazz, and contemporary folk gems that tell a story of perseverance towards her ultimate wish, motherhood. Songs by Marc Blitzstein, Jeff Blumenkrantz, Randy Newman, Stephen Sondheim, Georgia Stitt, and more capture the pain, heartbreak, fear, and finally, joy in this most personal story directed by Dewey Moss.

Held in the intimate Wallace Hall, Caritas Concerts are warm, enjoyable evenings of food, wine, friendship and great music.

Wine and hors d’oeuvres begin at 7 pm; Music begins at 7:30 pm

Caritas is the Latin word for “charity,” and as the name suggests, all proceeds from these benefit concerts are given directly to charities that address social justice concerns.

100% of all ticket revenues and donations from this evening will go directly to Mercy Center. Mercy Center empowers women and their families in the South Bronx to liberate themselves from economic poverty.

The Gift of Years: Spirituality and Aging
Time: Wednesday, September 26 at 7:00 pm
Location: Parish House | Gonzaga Meeting Room

As we age, God seeks to give us the gifts of wisdom, experience, an embracive heart, and compassion, among many others.

We are also called to be forgiving, blessing, mellow, and radically simple. Our presentation and discussion will explore these spiritual gifts and tasks of Elderhood. Together we will discern how we might bring our “gift of years” to the world.

Ignite High School Ministry

Parish Women’s Faith Group

Please join us if you are interested in forming a Parish Women’s Faith Group, a forum for women to reflect on their faith life and experience fellowship as women committed to learning from one other about how to navigate successfully the cross currents of faith, family, and daily life.

Meetings will be facilitated by Adele Gallo.

The Opioid Epidemic:  No End in Sight
Time: Thursday, September 27 at 7:00 pm

Today’s opioid crisis is already the deadliest drug epidemic in American history.

A distinguished panel of experts will discuss the nature of the disease, the availability of treatment and treatment options, and the social impact of this epidemic on our society.

Annual Friends of the Poor Walk
Time: Saturday, September 29

Join us as we walk 2.6 miles from the steps of St. Patrick’s Cathedral to the Church of Saint Paul the Apostle, 405 West 59th Street.

This fundraising event helps support our St. Lawrence O’Toole Conference (at St. Ignatius Loyola) serving those in need, with 100% of all funds raised remaining within our Conference. We are ready to set this year’s walk on fire with our strong legs and generous hearts!

The Hour Children Collection Drive
Time: Sunday, September 30
Location: Outside the Church

The Hour Children truck will be outside St. Ignatius Loyola Church from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM.

Donate your gently used household items (kitchenware, knick-knacks, books, electronics, small furniture, toys) and clothing for women, men, children, and infants.

HOUR CHILDREN: A community of mothers and children where love makes the difference.
