Location: Church of St. Francis Xavier, 55 West 15 Street between 5th and 6th Avenues
We will be helping out for the afternoon shift of the St. Francis Xavier Welcome Table, a soup kitchen run by the church. The Church of St. Francis Xavier is located at 55 West 15th Street, just east of 6th Avenue (between 6th and 5th), on the north side of the street. Volunteers will assist in various ways --(i) place hot meals on plates and the plates on trays; (ii) place other food items on the trays (dessert, bread, juice, soup, coffee, etc .); (iii) work at food stations giving out extras (coffee, bread, water, etc. ); (iv) wash, rinse, and dry trays; (v) help in the clothing room, (vi) give out clothes that were sorted in the morning; and, (vii) at 3:00PM, clean the tables and chairs and sweep the floors. We will meet at Xavier at 11:45AM. Please arrive on time. Jobs are assigned on a first come-first served basis, so showing up early gives you more choices.
