Day Nursery
The Day Nursery offers a challenging preschool program that focuses on each child’s uniqueness and their social, emotional and cognitive growth. Our child-centered curriculum fosters learning through creative play. The “I am Special” program nurtures a sense of joy and self-esteem. Children explore their own special talents and learn to value and respect those of others. It is our goal that each child develop a strong sense of self and lifelong desire to learn.
The Day Nursery is an independently funded program of the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola. The Nursery is nondenominational and accepts students of all religions, races and national origins.

The Day Nursery’s curriculum is designed to include each child at his or her own developmental level. Through play and directed learning activities, we work to encourage a child’s social, emotional, spiritual and cognitive growth while respecting their own learning style. Woven throughout all that we do is an ethical view of the world common to all religious traditions. Children develop a sense of their own uniqueness, a sense of mastery and a love of learning that prepares them for elementary school and beyond. Books are read aloud each day, and children develop a love of words and language, and an eagerness to begin reading. Outdoor play on the rooftop playground gives children the opportunity to develop motor skills, and simply having fun.

The Day Nursery’s generously-proportioned, sunny classrooms were specifically designed for young children. The comfortable rooms are divided into instructional areas containing a rich assortment of materials to encourage skill building and exploration. The natural light and space of the classrooms inspire each child’s imagination, creativity and learning. The 2,000 square foot rooftop playground includes climbing equipment, tricycles, slides and plenty of room for running and playing.
Parents often remark that the Day Nursery feels like “a home away from home.” That feeling of connection and continuity is due in large part to our faculty, professionals dedicated to the education of children. The average tenure of teachers at the Nursery is over 10 years. The result is a happy, secure environment that provides an informed picture of a child’s development year to year.
Day Nursery graduates go on to a range of private, parochial and public schools. The Nursery provides onsite Educational Records Bureau testing, and guidance to parents concerning the best options for their child.
